Short Biography
PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Beira Interior. Master’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a specialization in Informatics, from Instituto Superior Técnico – Technical University of Lisbon (2001). Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, focused on Systems and Methods of Computer Graphics, from the University of Coimbra (2004). During the academic path, an ERASMUS scholarship supported the development of the final project at the Fraunhofer Institut für Graphische Datenverarbeitung (IGD) in Darmstadt, Germany.
The professional career began at the Portuguese Roads Authority (Junta Autónoma de Estradas) in a consulting role, followed by the start of teaching duties at the School of Technology of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) in 1995, as an assistant lecturer. In 2000, the transition to the newly founded School of Applied Arts (IPCB) took place, with the position of adjunct professor held since 2005. Teaching areas include web design and development, interaction, programming languages for the arts and for the web, interface design, and, more recently, web 3D and augmented reality (AR).
Research interests focus on colour and colour blindness, web-based 3D, augmented reality, and digital storytelling in online and three-dimensional environments, with a particular emphasis on cultural heritage. Research activities are currently developed within Techn&Art Research Center, which now integrates the former Center for Research in Heritage, Education and Culture (CIPEC), of which she was a founding member and board member.
